Rocket Money isn't available in Canada: its help center says it is "only available to users located within the United States and with U.S. based banks", as checked in October 2026. If you're in Canada and wanted it to find your subscriptions and keep a budget, apps whose own sites say they work in Canada include Monarch Money, YNAB, Quicken Simplifi and Monio. Below is what Rocket Money does that you'd be replacing, what each of those apps says about Canada and price, a year of each in Canadian dollars, and what to check before you pay.
Is Rocket Money available in Canada?
Not as of October 2026. Rocket Money's help article on international banks says the app is only for members located in the US with US-based banks. It doesn't mention Canada by name, and it points anyone who'd like international support to a feature request form. So if your chequing account and cards are with Canadian banks, its own help center rules it out for now.
What you'd be replacing
It helps to know which part of Rocket Money you wanted, because the options below cover some parts more than others. From Rocket Money's page on what it costs, as listed in October 2026:
- Free ($0): subscription tracking, upcoming bills, transaction history and a few category budgets.
- Premium ($7 to $14 a month, "pay what you think is fair"): its team cancels many unwanted subscriptions for you, which the page says usually takes 2 to 10 days, plus unlimited budgets, net worth, account sharing and desktop access.
- Premium+ ($15 a month): adds an AI assistant and bill negotiation with no success fee. On the other plans, a lowered bill costs you a share of what you save.
If what you wanted was a list of every subscription and a budget, the apps below say they do that in Canada. If you wanted someone else to cancel subscriptions or negotiate your bills, check each app's own pages for that service before you pay, since the pages we read describe tracking and reminders.
Rocket Money alternatives in Canada
Each of these says on its own site that it works in Canada. All facts were checked in October 2026.
Monarch Money
Monarch's Canada page says Monarch is available in Canada, suggests the 7-day free trial to confirm your banks connect, and says all prices are billed in US dollars. Its pricing page lists $14.99 a month or $99.99 a year. Its home page says it automatically detects recurring subscriptions such as streaming, gyms and app memberships. For more, see our Monarch Money review.
YNAB
YNAB's pricing page says direct bank import works with select banks in the US, Canada, the UK and the EU, with file import elsewhere. It lists $14.99 USD a month or $109 USD a year, plus tax where applicable, with a 34-day free trial and no card needed when you sign up with YNAB directly. The same page says exchange rates aren't reflected in the price and one plan can't use more than one currency. YNAB is a budgeting method more than a subscription tracker: its method page lists five principles for planning the money you have. See our YNAB review.
Quicken Simplifi
Simplifi's currency article says it connects to banks in the US and Canada and supports US and Canadian dollars, and warns that mixing accounts in both currencies may cause balance errors. Its product page lists a view of all your subscriptions with bill reminders, and shows $3.99 and $6.99 a month, billed annually, with first-year offers for new memberships ordered by November 13, 2026 and renewal at the then-current price.
Monio
Monio works in the US and Canada. You choose Canada when you set up, Canadian banks and cards connect through Plaid, and your money shows in Canadian dollars. It finds recurring charges for you, shows what each costs a month and points out price increases. It doesn't cancel subscriptions or negotiate bills for you. It also links Splitwise bills to the card charges they were for, so only your share counts as spending. Prices are in US dollars: $7.99 a month or $80 a year, on our pricing page.
A year of each, in Canadian dollars
These apps list prices in US dollars, so the number you'll actually pay depends on the exchange rate and your card. Here's a first year on each yearly plan, by our own math, at an example rate of 1.38 Canadian dollars per US dollar:
- Monarch: $99.99 USD × 1.38 = about $137.99 CAD
- YNAB: $109 USD × 1.38 = about $150.42 CAD, plus tax where applicable
- Monio: $80 USD × 1.38 = $110.40 CAD
- Simplifi: $3.99 × 12 = $47.88 USD, about $66.07 CAD, or $6.99 × 12 = $83.88 USD, about $115.75 CAD (Quicken notes the final price may differ from the monthly price times 12)
For comparison, Rocket Money Premium for a US member is $84 to $168 USD a year at its listed monthly range. Many cards also add a foreign transaction fee to a US dollar charge, so check your own card's terms. Our post on budget apps in Canada works through that fee with numbers.
What to check before you pay
Our Canada budgeting checklist covers each step in full. For someone coming from Rocket Money, these matter most:
- The app's own site says it supports Canada. A review site or app store listing isn't enough.
- Your bank and every card connect during the trial. Monarch's trial is 7 days and YNAB's is 34. Search for each bank and card issuer, connect one, and wait for the first sync.
- Your subscriptions show up. Look at the app's recurring or subscriptions list and check it caught the charges you know about, including yearly ones.
- You know the price in Canadian dollars. Check the checkout page for the currency, not only the pricing page.
- You know how it handles US dollars, if you also hold a US dollar account. YNAB and Simplifi each say how they handle currencies on their own pages; for any other app, check its help center.
If you only wanted the subscription list
You can also find your subscriptions without any app. Go through two or three months of card and chequing statements, mark every charge that repeats, and cancel the ones you don't use with the company directly or through the app store you subscribed with. Say you find a $13 streaming plan, a $7 app and a $60 yearly membership you don't use: that's $13 + $7 + $5 = $25 a month, or $300 a year. An app that finds repeating charges does the statement reading for you.
