Net Worth Tracking
What you get.
One number, three parts
Under your net worth, Monio shows your cash and credit balances, your investments and your debt, so you can see what moves the total.
Manual accounts
Add an account by hand for anything you can't or don't want to connect, like cash or a car loan. Pick its type and enter the balance.
Balances hidden until you look
The Accounts page opens with balances hidden, for privacy on a shared screen. Show them when you check in. Your choice is remembered on that device.
How it works
Three simple steps.
- 01
Link your accounts
Connect banks, cards and investment accounts through Plaid, in the US or Canada. Monio can see them but never move money.
- 02
Add the rest
Enter manual balances for anything else you want counted.
- 03
Check in
Balances refresh as your accounts sync.
How Monio adds up your net worth
Monio adds the balances of your checking, savings, cash and investment accounts, and payment apps like Venmo, then takes away what you owe on credit cards and loans. A card with a credit balance, where the bank owes you money, counts in your favor.
If an account hasn't reported a balance yet, Monio says the total is partial and how many accounts are missing, instead of guessing.
Choose which accounts count toward net worth
Each account on the Accounts page has an eye button. Hide an account from totals and it leaves your net worth, for example a business account you track somewhere else. Show it again any time. A manual account you close leaves the total too.
Tracking net worth in more than one currency
If you have accounts in US and Canadian dollars, Monio shows a net worth for each currency instead of converting one into the other, so no exchange rate ever changes your number.
Investment and retirement accounts in your net worth
Many brokerage and retirement accounts connect through Plaid, depending on the institution. Their balances count under Investments. Monio can see these accounts but can never move money.
Net worth tracking in a household
Your net worth counts only your own accounts, even when you share some with a partner. Accounts a partner shares with you show on the Accounts page as view only and don't change your number.
