How to cancel Rocket Money Premium and your account

To cancel Rocket Money Premium, open Settings (the gear icon), choose Membership, tap Manage, move the price slider all the way left to $0/month and select Cancel Subscription. The steps are almost the same on the website and in the app. You keep Premium until the end of your billing cycle, and your Rocket Money account stays open on the free version. If you also want your data gone, deleting the account is a separate step. Everything below comes from Rocket Money's own help center, checked in October 2026.

How to cancel Rocket Money Premium on the website

Rocket Money's help article on managing your Premium membership gives these steps for the website:

  1. Click the Settings icon (the gear).
  2. Select Membership.
  3. Click Manage in the upper right corner.
  4. Move the slider all the way left to $0/month.
  5. Select Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts.

Premium's price is picked on a sliding scale, according to Rocket Money's article on what it costs, and cancelling uses the same slider.

How to cancel the Rocket Money subscription in the app

The same article gives the steps for the iPhone and Android app:

  1. Tap the Settings icon (the gear) at the top left.
  2. Select Membership.
  3. Tap Manage Membership.
  4. Move the slider all the way left to $0/month.
  5. Tap Cancel Subscription and follow the prompts.

Cancel Rocket Money through the App Store or Google Play

Some people pay for Premium through Apple or Google rather than directly. Rocket Money's article on Premium features not appearing mentions members who "subscribed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store". Rocket Money's help center doesn't have a separate page on cancelling Premium that way, but its general articles on subscriptions billed by Apple and Google give these steps.

On an iPhone or iPad, from its Apple article:

  1. Open Settings and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Select the subscription, tap Cancel Subscription at the bottom, and confirm.

On a Mac, the same article says to open the App Store, click your profile picture, choose Account Settings, click Manage next to Subscriptions, select the subscription and cancel it.

On Android, from its Google Play article:

  1. Open the Google Play Store and check you're signed in to the right Google account.
  2. Tap your profile, then Payments & Subscriptions.
  3. Select the subscription, tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.

You can also cancel on the web at play.google.com, under My subscriptions. The Google article adds one thing worth knowing: uninstalling an app doesn't cancel its subscription.

If you paid Rocket Money directly, the charge comes from a linked checking account: its payment method article says Premium is paid that way, and you can see the payment method in the app under Settings, Membership, Manage Membership.

What happens after you cancel Rocket Money Premium

According to the membership article:

  • The cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing cycle, and you keep Premium features until then.
  • Cancelling doesn't delete your Rocket Money account.
  • Bill negotiations that are already under way stay in place.
  • Notifications and emails keep coming unless you change your alert settings.

Two things to do before your Premium time runs out. First, if you want a copy of your transactions, Rocket Money's pricing page lists CSV export as a Premium feature, so export while you still have it. Second, if you're on Premium+ with its savings account, Rocket Money's article on downgrading from Premium+ says the account stays open but stops earning interest, and on the free plan you can no longer start deposits from the app. Withdrawals still work.

The membership article doesn't give separate cancel steps for Premium+. If yours looks different, check Rocket Money's help center.

How to unlink your bank accounts from Rocket Money

Cancelling Premium leaves your banks and cards connected. To disconnect one, Rocket Money's article on disconnecting an account gives these steps.

In the app:

  1. Tap the Settings icon in the upper left.
  2. Select Linked Accounts.
  3. Tap Unlink next to the institution.
  4. Confirm by tapping Unlink My Account.

On the website:

  1. Select the Settings icon in the left sidebar.
  2. Select Linked Accounts.
  3. Click the three dots next to an account and select Unlink.
  4. Confirm by selecting Yes, unlink.

The article says unlinking removes all data from that institution, including its history and any edits you made to categories and transactions, and that the data can't be recovered if you link the account again later. Unlinking doesn't cancel Premium, so cancel that separately.

How to delete your Rocket Money account

Rocket Money's article on deleting your account says deleting permanently erases all your Rocket Money data and can't be undone. Before you delete, it asks you to:

  • cancel your Premium membership
  • cancel any active bill negotiations
  • close any active financial goals

Then, in the app:

  1. Tap the Settings icon in the upper left.
  2. Select Profile.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete My Account.
  4. Confirm with Yes, I'm Sure.

On the website:

  1. Select the Settings icon in the left sidebar.
  2. Choose Profile.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and select Delete Rocket Money Account.
  4. Select it again to confirm.

Deleting your Rocket Money account doesn't delete other Rocket accounts, such as a Rocket Mortgage account. If you also want to ask for your personal data to be deleted, Rocket Money's privacy rights page has a form to start a request online.

Can you get a refund from Rocket Money?

The Rocket Money help pages we read don't explain how to get a refund for Premium. For a question about a charge, check Rocket Money's help center or contact its support team. Its contact page says chat in the app is the quickest way, and you can also email support@rocketmoney.com from the address on your account. Support is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 8pm Eastern, and there's no phone line.

Choosing what to use next

If you're cancelling because Premium wasn't worth the money for you, our post on whether Rocket Money is worth it covers what each plan includes, who it tends to suit and a few alternatives, each checked on its own site.

If you split a lot of costs with friends or a partner, Monio is one option to look at: it connects to Splitwise and links each shared bill to the card charge it came from, so only your share counts as spending, and it works in the US and Canada for $7.99 a month or $80 a year. It doesn't cancel subscriptions or negotiate bills for you. Our Rocket Money comparison sets the two side by side and explains how to bring your history across.
